Containment and recovery at Nangiama :
Crude oil spill is one of the environmental issues that have caused environmental degradation as well as posed challenges to oil producing companies. For this reason, SPDC has put in more effort and resources in ensuring that when an oil spill occurs, the spread of the free phase crude is contained and the impacted site(s) is cleaned up. This report covers the detailed steps and activities taken on site, in the order of containment, recovery and evacuation of crude oil at 10˝ Diebu Creek-Nun River P/L at Nangiama.
The spill occurred on 30th of June, 2021 and JIV was conducted on 6th of July 2021. The spill was caused by third party interference (sabotage). GIOLEE GLOBAL RESOURCES LIMITED was contracted by SPDC to carry out Containment, Recovery, Evacuation, and Cleanup of impacted vegetation.
