Containment and recovery at Ihuowo :
Crude oil spill is one of the environmental issues that has caused environmental degradation as well as posed challenges to oil producing companies. For this reason, SPDC has put in more effort and resources in ensuring that when an oil spill occurs, the spread of the free phase crude is contained, recovered, evacuated and clean-up activities are done on the impacted site. This report covers the detailed steps taken on site, in the order of containment, recovery, evacuation of crude oil and clean-up at 14” Okordia – Rumuekpe T/L at Ihuowo. The spill occurred on 14th of February 2022 and JIV was conducted on 16th of February 2022. The spill was caused by third party interference (Crude theft). GIOLEE GLOBAL RESOURCES LIMITED was contracted by SPDC to carry out the Containment, recovery, evacuation of crude oil and clean-up of the environment.
