Produce Water Management

The management of produced water presents many challenges and can pose significant costs to operators. Current techniques for produced water management include several methods such as underground injection either for increasing recovery or disposal, produced water treatment and discharge, evaporation, reuse, and beneficial use.

Produced Water Treatment

Produced water always contains high concentrations of TDS, metal ions, as well as oil and grease. To ensure the injected produced water is confined in the injection zone in a manner that does not contaminate the water-bearing geologic formation, produced water needs to be treated before injection. Therefore, to meet the UIC and RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) regulations, removal of TDS, TOC, oil/grease, hardness, and metal ions (including ammonia and boron) is the main treatment goal.

Groundwater Management Technology: Biosparging

We specialize in the treatment of polluted groundwater irrespective of the source of contamination. Giolee has the sole Patent Right in all of West Africa to carry out the biosparging technology for the treatment of contaminated sub-surface groundwater.

In Giolee, we have proven records of the biosparging technology as an effective means for the treatment of hydrocarbon-polluted groundwater. This method is cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and timely. It consists of the injection of pressurized air (oxygen) into a contaminated zone or aquifer to stimulate in situ aerobic biological activities. This technique applies to dissolved and residual contaminants in the saturated zone and targets biodegradable contaminants under aerobic conditions.

Monitoring and Sampling

Monitoring and sampling are continuous processes in managing contaminated groundwater, which will also be undertaken throughout the project's lifespan. Groundwater/soil samples will be collected for laboratory Analysis and monitored for actual treatment of contaminants of concern.
